Mark/a Tamea is a composer who creates using electro-acoustic experiments, synthesis, and field recordings. The music is characterized by a fusion of the commonplace and the imaginary, the discernible and the esoteric, which is fused with delicately harmony. The resulting experience takes the listener on an emotional journey of exploration while creating a heightened awareness of the environment and the physical world.

Mark/a has been active in the alternative music scene since the early 1980s and was one of the first to use digital sound modification techniques to create innovative ambient experiences. The musical style and ideology evolved through ongoing collaborations with Kymatik – an experimental collective that challenges the boundaries of sound perception.

To date, Mark/a has produced ten solo albums and also contributed to compilations including Nijmeegsche Electronische Waar – 4.0, Ressonus Net – Volume One, Gonzo Circus – Mind The Gap, Doppelganger 141 and Voices for Iran – 909 Connection. 2023.
